Freelancing was a job I never imagined will my new normal. But this year brings things that we don't expect. But how do I become a freelancer? What are my struggles along the way? And can you be a freelancer too?
My Story on How Freelancing Became My New Normal
How do I become a freelancer and become my "new normal"? This year was a turning point for many, and freelancing is their solution. A million workers lost their jobs, and a lot of job seekers lost their hopes. Me too, I quit my career as a quality control and quality assurance engineer of a manufacturing company. It was my first job, and having to resign is a big decision for me. For my safety and well being, I pack my bag and return home. It was a suggestion at first to become a freelancer, but as time flies. I realize that having to work for my family is no different, whether I am as long as I can provide. It just a bonus to have the freedom and having doing jobs in the comfort and safety of your own home.
My struggles with becoming a freelancer
My struggles with becoming a freelancer, is where to start, was my first obstacle. There are a lot of articles, videos, websites, and mobile apps that either teach you or get clients for you, but what is the best method to learn basics?
All of this can be your start, but not all of these can guaranteed success. For me, the safest route is to find and enroll in an online course and back it up with learning from any social media platforms will be the safest route. Freelancing is not tricky if you know the fundamentals. It's not enough to have to computer, laptop, or wifi. Having a niche is a must. A Niche for me is the service we market to clients. The most common example of this is a general virtual assistant, graphic artist, a web designer. There a lot of niches you can offer and explore. In this pandemic, freelancing can be your new normal too.
How can you be a freelancer like me?
You can start by researching about freelancing the benefits and how others begin their journey. You can also start by enrolling in an online course. I high recommend FVA Business Consultancy. There you can learn how to approve on the Upwork profile or your chosen website to put out your profile. You'll also need social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others. All of this was new for me, but that will not stop me from pushing forward and take the first step. I hope you won't stop trying to reach your dreams, and this pandemic won't chain you. You can take one obstacle at a time, and in no time, you'll get there. Freelancing can be an option or your new normal
